Volkswagen India celebrated their 100,000th car at their Chakan manufacturing plant in Pune. The feat has been achieved in 2 years with production having started in May 2009. The celebration saw the millionth rollout, this time a lucky Volkswagen Vento.  The numbers recorded come 5 months after the Volkswagen plant rolled their 50,000th car. The Volkswagen manufacturing plant at Chakan produces the Vento, Polo, and Fabia.

The Chakan plant has a capacity of 130,000 cars and is hailed amongst the company's modern plants globally. A comprehensive setup, the Chakan plant has it all, so you can go from the press shop through body shop and paint shop to final assembly.

Built in 17 months, the plant required an investment pledge of Rs. 3,800 Crores by Volkswagen India, which is the largest in size until date by a German enterprise in India, and is testimony to the company's longer commitment to the Indian car market.
