Maruti will start phasing out Maruti 800 in 13 cities from April this year. Company said that it had no plans to upgrade this car to meet Euro IV emissions standards.

Maruti 800 was launched back in 1982 and it was the car for the Indian middle class families. It brought the dreams of thousands of middle class families to reality to own a car.

RushLane sees it as a potential step to make a way for Cervo launch which is expected to price around 2-3 lakhs.

The cities affected are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Surat and Agra. Other cities would still continue to sell the model.
