Daimler trucks has received their biggest order to date of 159 new generation Mercedes Benz Citaro buses which has been ordered by Budapest. Orders were received in November 2012 while deliveries are scheduled to commence from April 2013 when these comfortable, environmentally friendly passenger buses will make their way to Budapest.
The company’s biggest order to date, these vehicles have been ordered by VT Transman, Hungary’s largest private bus company which operates both in regional and municipal bus lines. The entire lot of 159 Citaro urban buses will comply with new EEV emission standards and will be produced from the company’s two production plants in Mannheim and New-Ulm due to the limited 6 month deliver period stipulated in the terms and conditions of contract.
Out of these 159 urban buses, 80 with be articulated buses while 79 will be solo vehicles of Mercedes Benz Citaro. The articulated buses will be 18 meter in length and will have four doors while the solo vehicles are 12 meters long and consist of three doors. Both varieties will have low floor design specially suited for easy entry and exit for elderly and physically challenged while it will also possess a wheelchair ramp. Concentration of being environmentally friendly means that the Mercedes Bens buses will be highly fuel efficient and low on auto emissions while they are equipped with Mercedes Benz BlueTec diesel technology and meet the stringent EEV emission standards.
