1953 Ferrari MM Berlinetta Competizione Retromobile preview

A historically significant Ferrari 340/375 MM will be auctioned by RM auctions at Villa d’Este to be held on 25th May 2013 in Italy. It took part in the 1953 Le mans 24 Hours race event but was disqualified from the event for taking onboard extra brake fluid. It was driven by Mike Hawthorn and Nino Farina during this event.

Alberto Ascari and Villoresi drive the car during Spa 24 Hours. The car tasted victory at Pescara 12 hours and at the Circuit of Gaudeloupe. Most significant event in the race cars history was when Maglioli averaged a top speed of 138 mph to 223 miles setting a public road stage record speed that hasn’t been broken ever since. The car has changed owners in USA and Britain before being bought by its current owner in 2004.

The car will be available for enthusiasts to view at the Retromobile. It boasts of excellent restoration work and can be shown or driven at car collection events all over the world.
