During the past year, Mahindra sold a total of 4056 units in South Africa. This was a 4% increase in sales as per performance in the previous year out of which total government sales for the year were over 200 units.
Mahindra and SsangYong models on sale in South Africa have been well received and the company is content with its performance, noting significant growth in the country ever since its establishment in October 2004. Via government tenders, the company delivered over 200 units of Bolero, Xylo and Scorpio SUV models.
Mahindra has been building on a strong brand and its recent Rise brand awareness campaign added more impetus to the group. The SsangYong brand which has also been marketed in South Africa since 2012 has been seeing increased attention while the company is actively increasing its dealer networks across cities and towns taking them to a total of 57. The company has also expanded to other sub Saharan countries and exports vehicles to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland and Namibia. (via PTI)
