Try as they might to keep cars under wraps, spy photographers have a happy knack of getting to where the action is. This is exactly what has happened and the new 2013 MINI Cooper prototype was spotted while on test, this time not in darkness but in broad daylight. The car was caught on camera at a gas station as eager cameras followed it on its daylight mission.

The 2013 MINI Cooper will have a new front wheel drive platform called UKL which will be larger than the current model in the market. UKL platform has been used in a number of new models and will also be seen on the new BMW that is to be launched in 2014 and also on Clubman.

MINI Cooper will have a number of engine options which will include a 1.5 liter three cylinder with 130 PS and 150 PS both in diesel and petrol besides a 2.0 liter four cylinder seen on BMW 1 Series and 1.6 liter turbocharged petrol producing 180PS. A hybrid version is also expected with a front wheel drive in a deal entered into with PSA Peugeot Citroen in 2010.
