2013 PSA Peugeot Citroen sales up in China until now
PSA Peugeot Citroen has witnessed increased sales in the Chinese auto market. During Q1 2013, company sales increased positively, while YoY sales have seen a marked increased as well. 31% YoY sales increase with 142,000 units delivered, the company projects good growth for the remainder of 2013, and China continues to be a leading global auto market.
Their joint venture with Dongfeng saw the company sell 46,134 units resulting in a 31% increase while the Chinese market registered growth of 12.4%. Sales volume equates to market share of 4%. In the period January to May 2013, sales increased 32% to 232,960 units where it was seen that the Citroen C4L was in greater demand. Over 15,000 Citroen C4L units were booked in this 5 month period while it was found that Peugeot 3008 was also a major seller with 21,000 units booked.
DPCA is keen to launch two new models during the second half of 2013. These will be the Citroen C-Elysée and Peugeot 301 which are expected to enter production at the company’s third and upcoming Wuhan plant to be inaugurated this summer. They have eyes on a 5% market share in 2015. The CAPSA JV with Changan will see Citroën DS5 local production begin in the 2nd half of 2013.
