2013 Skoda Octavia caught undisguised in Chile

The new Skoda Octavia is due to debut at 2013 Geneva Motor Show scheduled for March 2013, however the upcoming model was recently caught and photographed in an undisguised appearance as it took part in a promotional photo shoot at Santiago, Chile. Immediately recognizable as a design inspired by Skoda VisionD concept car seen at 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the vehicle is expect to sit on Golf underpinnings and Volkswagen Group new MQB modular platform. The upcoming Skoda Octavia is also expected to share same four cylinder petrol and diesel engines seen on VW Golf and other Volkswagen vehicles.

Volkswagen Group is also concentrating their wholehearted efforts on Chinese markets. The company will be enhancing export operations to China in the coming year. The Group plans on two viable channels to increase their presence in the country. One will be through their own exclusive showrooms or through existing dealerships and joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen.

Currently all three Skoda models Fabia, Octavia compact and Superbmid sedan produced by Volkswagen and SAIC Motor Corp are doing well in Chinese markets which has recently emerged as a major sector for the brand just five years after commencing local production. Sales of these three models far exceeded 200,000 units during the period January to October 2012 in China which the company hopes to increase to 500,000 by 2016.
