The 2014 Mercedes Benz B Class Electric Drive comes to US in early 2014. This battery powered Benz will be built on an entirely new platform, which is seen on the CLA and A Class. Speaking about this upcoming car, Mercedes Benz R&D head has said that it will be better than rival, BMW i3.
The upcoming B Class Electric Drive is fitted with a 100kW engine and lithium-ion battery pack and the model can travel upto a distance of 115 miles on full battery charge. Pricing of this upcoming model has not yet been revealed and it will not be till fall that they are made evident.
The new Mercedes Benz B Class electric drive will compete with recently launched BMW i3. The former has a range of 200 km and a top speed of 190 kmph while the BMW i3 has a range of 190 km and a top speed of 150 kmph. While the B Class has greater torque at 300 Nm, the i3 has 250 Nm torque but scores over the B Class where acceleration is concerned as the i3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km in 7.2 seconds as against the B Class which can achieve the same speed in 7.9 seconds.
