DubVision’s first release called “All By Myself” on Spinnin’created a huge buzz. It had massive airplay on DJ radio shows(including Pete Tong’s Essential Selection, Tiesto’s Clublife, David Guetta’s F*ck Me I’m Famous and Afrojack & Bobby Burns’ Jacked). When the track was finally released it went straight up to #8 in the Progressive House chart on Beatport and #25 overall. The track got (and is still getting) a lot of support from the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, Afrojack, David Guetta, Thomas Gold to name a few.
This buzz made sure DubVision became hot remix property, and as such they created remixes for Aiden Grimshaw, Pascal & Pearce, Syke’N’Sugerstarr and they are currently in the process of promoting their brand new remix for Axwell’s Axtone imprint.
DubVision are the new stars on the EDM firmament, remember the name, cause you’ll be hearing it a lot!
The Dualist Inquiry Band
Dualist Inquiry’s electronic sets are among the most compelling live productions in the country today. The brainchild of producer and guitarist Sahej Bakshi, Dualist Inquiry’s brand of guitar-driven live electronica has been winning him fans around the country ever since he broke on the scene a couple of years ago.
Now, the critically acclaimed producer is adding two incredibly talented young producers to his live arsenal to form The Dualist Inquiry Band. Jivraj ‘Jiver’ Singh and Sanaya Ardeshir (aka Sandunes), both accomplished producers, will join Bakshi on the road to perform music from Dualist Inquiry’s exciting repertoire and unreleased material as well. The band will also preview material from an upcoming EP which fans can look out for in the near future.
The F16s are one of the newest acts on the burgeoning Chennai underground music scene. They are a five piece Rock n Roll act with a distinct indie aesthetic and a hint of electronica. Their songs are heavy and euphoric, with a double guitar attack, keyboards, drums, bass and a Macbook.
The band draws influence from modern indie rock groups such as Foals, Arctic Monkeys, Mutemath, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend as also ambient and electronic dance music genres.
Some of their past performances have included the NH7 Weekender in Bangalore, the Magnetic Fields Festival in Rajasthan, Hard Rock Café in Mumbai and more.
Frisky Pints started when Joseph and Danny met in Camden Town, London in 2010. Armed with a dream of making a band and sharing their love of music with the rest of the world, they returned to India to meet up with friends and now fellow band mates Anggu and Valentino and hence officially started Frisky pints.
The name ‘Frisky Pints’ comes from their love of having fun together and their love for their drinks. The band members originally hail from Mizoram, but currently consider New Delhi their home.Since 2010, the band has played at various venues across India like Attitude, Hard rock Café, The Recycle pub with the international band Junoon. They have also perfomed alongside artists Bombay Bassment, Sky Rabbit & Shaair & Func etc.
The band has also won various competitions like NIT Jaipur, Ragnarock competition, the Corna battle of the bands at IITM, Gwalior where they also won the best vocalist and best drummer awards.
Recently the band participated in the competition ‘Hard Rock Rising’, which is a global battle of the bands taking place at all Hard Rock outlets from Las Vegas to Tokyo. The band impressively reached the ‘top 25 bands worldwide’ category, one of first Indian bands to reach this level.
The Vinyl Records
The Vinyl Records (aka TVR), is a four piece girl band based in New Delhi that came together in February 2010. The band was formed by Banu, Minam and Mithy, all from Arunachal Pradesh. The final touch to the band came when they were joined by the present vocalist and keytarist Cheyyrian Bark from Assam in January 2011. The band has never looked back ever since taking the Indian indie music scene by storm!
Taking cues from musical inspirations such as CSS, Joan Jett, The Clash, The Strokes and the B-52’s, TVR love to put on a show! Their debut 4-track EP “Whims” was released at Ziro Festival in September 2013 to super reviews following which TVR have performed at the NH7 Weekender Festival Pune, the GoMAD Festival Ooty and the North-East Fashion & Music Festival Delhi.
Donn Bhat + Passenger Revelator
Donn Bhat + Passenger Revelator is an eclectic band of producer Donn Bhat. Their music can be defined as a mix of Rock/Electro/Psychedelic/Fusion/Folk/Reggae/Dn’B/Electronica. The originality of their music blends itself seamlessly though genres.
The Passenger Revelator has an enviable lineup of exciting musicians and collaborators:
Ashwin Andrews – Drums/Bass
Shanks – Trumpet/Guitar/Mandolin
Nayantara Bhaktal – Vocals
Donn Bhat – Guitars/Vocals/Producer
Dinesh Gag – vocals
Nadège and Lucille of Andromakers met at university. Their first EP ‘The Golden Hour’ published in early 2011, confirmed their taste of simplicity.
After a few years, they traded in their guitars against old 80s keyboards and other Glockenspiel, vintage beatboxes. They have toured across France, Germany, Portugal and Switzerland.
At a gig in Aix en Provence in 2013, they met visual artist ‘Pixel Light’ and began to create an audiovisual form of their live performance for which they will be touring in the second half of 2014.
Their first album will be launched in 2014 and the band has already announced that the tracks will be more electronic but still resolutely Pop, while the music and lyrics will continue to combine English and French.
Chris Simmons (UK)
Despite the opportunity for Chris Simmons to boast support slots, openers and tours with the likes of Passenger, Kate Nash, Seth Lakeman, Beth Orton and The Maccabees (to name a few), he casually mentions his sizeable roster of associations like the next person recounts bumping into an old friend.
The video for his new single The Occupant was shot by Steve Glashier whose own credits include fellow Brightonite, Fatboy Slim. The Occupant is a wonderfully scenic, atmospheric and relaxing track that captures what Simmons’ music is all about. His vocals carry the lyrics allowing them to breathe and create life.
It’s no coincidence that his fondness of Crowded House found him travelling around Australia and New Zealand last year, where his songwriting benefitted from new places and perspectives, where he got a taste for the busking tradition so loved in the Antipodes. Closer to home, Simmons frequently visits other countries in Europe, touring and playing house concerts around Germany and Switzerland where he has a solid following. A personal connection with his audience – be it passers by, at house concerts or ornate theatres – are critically important to Chris Simmons.

The GRIND is a New Delhi based DJ collective with the mandate of exposing India to dance music from around the world, pushing the boundaries of India’s bubbling club scene and the early acceptance of nascent genres destined for widespread popularity in the future. As the blurred lines separating “commercial” and “underground” music fade with every new hit and trend, The Grind thrives in that space – mashing up all kinds of music from different eras, geographies, philosophies into one joyous celebration of life.
The GRIND is unique from other collectives in the country due to the format of its performances, wherein each DJ plays short sets of 10-15 minutes in a rotating line-up. This type of “soundclash”, where each DJ builds on the set of his previous compadre, allows the dual impulses of collaboration and competition to push the night to the greatest heights. DJs in the collective are well-travelled, each hailing from different parts of the world, each bringing a different set of tracks & tricks to the table.
Earthstage was formed in 2000, with a mission to collaborate with musicians, creaters & artists. They have had some of the best International and National musicians contribute or Jam with the Earth project.
Earthstage – ‘The Earth is our Stage’
Earthstage was founded by Elvis Lobo on Guitar and Bosco Dsouza on Drums, and now completed with Joe Ferrao on bass, all from Goa. This project initially began as an experimental project, trying out different sounds with various instruments, musicians and artists.
They reached an understanding that music came from within oneself, and their communication came through music and physical motion. Their style is Funk, Jazz, Rock, and experimental.
Earthstage will be featuring musician Sameer Alvares on keyboard/synthesizer.
RUN! It’s the Kid
RUN! It’s the Kid is an indie-folk outfit based out of New Delhi, formed in the beginning of 2013. The band, as a duo, consists of Dhruv Bhola and Shantanu Pandit, and in its extended form comprises Bhairav Gupta on drums and Danik Ghosh on bass.
Rudy Roots Selekta
Rudy Roots Selekta has played around the world including Asia, Europe and the Middle East. During the winter months, he is based in Goa, India.
Originally from France, Rudy Roots has spent the last 10 years playing reggae music in bars, clubs and festivals. “Roots Warriors” is a collective of like-minded MCs and djs that evolved during these early days. Back then, Rudy worked within the traditional style of reggae and played original vinyl recordings.
In December of 2012, Rudy Roots Selekta played in Bangalore at the NH7 Weekender, India’s biggest alternative music festival. It was at this festival that he truly understood that young Indians had a growing love for reggae music and he was grateful for the opportunity to nourish it.
Spreading the message of reggae has become important to him. He believes that reggae music is the message, in its unique vibration, Rasta philosophy and every listener’s own interpretation.
