Mercedes Benz CLA 200 will feature engine configurations in the form of a Camtronic M270 DE 16 AL 1.6 liter engine also doing duty on the A200. This engine is capable of 154 hp power at 5000 rpm and 250 Nm torque at 1250 to 4000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7 speed 7G-DCT transmission and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 kmph.
Extensive safety features abound on the new Mercedes Benz CLA introduced in Malaysia. These includes Attention Assist, Active Parking Assist, Collision Prevention Assist and Brake Assist. There is also Direct Steer electromechanical power steering system being offered as part of the safety feature package.
Mercedes Benz CLA 200 comes equipped with two exhaust pipe system, a chrome rear diffuser and silver chrome interior accents. Its Night Package includes black wing mirror caps and high gloss waistline trim strip. The model sits on 18” wheels in a two tone color finish which is encased in 225/40 tyres. Interiors are seen in a crystal grey and black color scheme.
The CLA AMG 45 Edition 1 was showcased as well. It will be powered by a 2.0l inline 4 turbocharged petrol engine delivering 360 hp and 450 Nm torque. Transmission will be taken care by DCT 7-speed sports transmission with AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Both models will be brought in as CBUs ready for sale in Malaysia.
Mercedes Benz India too is planning on launching the new CLA in India. The CLA 45 AMG was showcased earlier this year at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Once launched in India, the CLA will compete with the Audi A3, which is also expected to be launched later this year. For now, on the 15th April, Mercedes Benz India will launch GL63 AMG.
