2014 MINI Cooper launched in India as CBU: Only Cooper D 3-Door & 5-Door variants for now, Cooper S 3-Door launch next year

To be sold as a CBU, across BMW dealerships in India from today, price of new MINI 3 Door starts at Rs 31.85 lakhs, and that of MINI 5 door starts at Rs 35.2 lakhs.

Today, MINI India launched 2014 MINI in India. Only two variants are on offer – Mini Cooper D 3 Door and Mini Cooper D 5 Door. Both are powered by a 1.5l three cylinder turbo diesel engine, offering 114 hp and 270 Nm torque. Both have a top speed of 200 kmph and achieve 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds. Transmission will be taken care by improved six speed automatic gearbox, tuned to offer more fuel efficiency.

On-board features include three driving modes – Sport, Green and Mid. State of the art safety features – front and passenger airbags, 3-point seat belts, dynamic stability, crash sensor, ABS, run-flat indicator and much more. There are a host of colour options to choose from to include two non metallic colors of Pepper White and Volcanic Orange and nine metallic colours of Moonlight Grey, Blazing Red, Electric Blue, British Racing Green, Iced Chocolate, Thunder Grey, Deep Blue, White Silver and Midnight Black.

Speaking about a more powerful version of the new MINI, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said that it will be launched next year as a CBU. Though he did not confirm a launch date, he did say that the car will be launched in Q1 2015. The new MINI Cooper S 3 door will get a 2.0l four cylinder petrol turbo engine generating 189 hp and 280 Nm torque. It will have a top speed of 233 kmph and a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.
