Fiat Punto facelift first clear images: Launch nears
Fiat Punto facelift finally shows itself completely, revealing all that was hidden under heavy camouflage for so long. Launch of new Punto will take place in few weeks, ahead of Fiat Avventura launch.
Upcoming refreshed Punto wears headlamps and stretched honeycomb grille as seen in Fiat Avventura at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Redesigned front bumper gets sporty skirt at chin section, there are chrome decors surrounding grille and fog lamps, and a chrome slat running right across the middle of front grille. 2014 Punto does not get LED DRLs.
Wing mirrors of new Fiat Punto are embedded with clear lens turn blinkers. Tail light assembly gets transparent cover, just like the one sported in Avventura. Lower part of rear bumper houses what appear to be brake lamps, bordered with and interconnected by chrome trim. Side view of face lifted Punto shows chrome treated door handles and stylish 16 inch alloys hosting 195/55 Apollo radial tires.
These latest spy shots of Fiat Punto suggest that full black cabin is also on offer, as earlier pictures showed black and beige combo. Our previous spy photo displays an additional faux wood trim running on dashboard; yet to be confirmed.
Centre console, air-con vents, steering wheel and control buttons are shared from new Fiat Linea. Shift rod head is wrapped in leather, bearing prominent stitches to augment sporty appeal of Punto. Black on beige upholstery fabric will also be available in select variants.
Choice of engine is less likely to be changed. Current Punto comes with 1.2 litre and 1.4 litre petrol motors pushing 68 PS and 90 PS max. power respectively. MultiJet diesel mill displacing 1.3 litres is offered in two tunes – 76 PS and 93 PS. Same 5 speed manual transmission will do duty in Punto facelift.
