2014 Skoda Superb with a new interior and exterior
Seen at 2014 Auto Expo, the new Superb was launched this week and sports outstanding interior and exterior updates with a host of safety, comfort and infotainment features. Priced from Rs 18.87 lakhs, the new Superb is a premium saloon offering a sportier appeal.
New Superb’s front façade is seen with a new grille and redesigned bumper while new headlamps, integrated daytime running LEDs and a new set of alloy wheels set this facelift apart. The rear end of Skoda Superb facelift sports new designed tail lamps, a revamped boot and new license plate placed above boot lid.
There have been no changes in engine details on board the new Skoda Superb, which continues with two engine options in the form of a 1.8 liter TSI 118 kW turbo petrol engine with peak power of 160 bhp and peak torque of 260 Nm. A 2 liter TDI 103 kW turbo diesel engine also does duty on the new Skoda Superb with 140 bhp peak power and 320 Nm torque. The petrol engine will be mated to 6 speed manual and 7 speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox while diesel variants will be offered mated to 6 speed manual and 6 speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox.
Skoda Superb has always been in winner in its category, far outselling its competitors and this time round the company expects the same performance while at the same time strengthening its position in its segment.
SKODA Superb has enjoyed top position as segment leader since its launch in 2004. The new gen model has a revised exterior in tandem with the Czech automaker’s new design language complemented with innovative technical features. On the inside one is greeted with a new steering wheel.

New Skoda Superb sports is wholly redesigned up to the A-pillars. A new radiator grille, vehicle logo, front headlights and fog lights, bumper, front fender, and bonnet are seen. The logo is now placed in the bonnet centre, which is slightly sloped downward. Bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights and LED turning signals have been employed for the first time. On the rear, the C-shape of the rear taillights shines even more brightly with 3 distinct light strips making up the C-shaped rear LED lights. 2 cubist triangles below the boot lid are a new design element.
Superb is available in 8 colors: Candy White, Magnetic Brown, Brilliant Silver, Rosso Brunello, Metal Grey, Amethyst Royal, Lava Blue and Magic Black. Wheel design stands changed. Superb’s Twindoor system patented solution lets you open the 5th door in 2 different ways. Open just the boot lid or the entire rear boot including the rear window.

Superb houses the largest luggage compartment in the upper mid-range segment, and maximum knee room for rear seat passengers with 157 millimetres of rear leg room space. Luggage compartment volume is 565 litres, which can be extended to 1,700 by folding the rear seats. There’s lockable storage compartments behind the wheel housings, bag hooks and lashing points.
Going by Skoda’s Simply Clever motto, there’s a neatly hidden umbrella compartment in the left rear door. Added storage options in both the front and rear of the vehicle, jumbo box in the centre console, storage compartments in the doors, under the passenger seat, the roomy glove box, compartment for glasses and storage compartment in the folding armrest in the rear seats, all point to storage convenience.
Adaptive Front Light System (AFS) makes for opyimal visual conditions when driving in the dark with optimum illumination of the road and surroundings. Hill Hold Control eases driving on slopes without using the hand brake. Superb is available with 8 airbags as well as three-point safety belts and height-adjustable headrests. Vehicle body is highly torsion-resistant because of high-strength steel used, and a well-balanced chassis aids stable road holding.
