2015 Ford Edge revealed, not India bound

The second generation 2015 Ford Edge is unveiled. Based on the Ford Global Midsize Platform, new Edge will be offered in four trims – SE, SEL, Sport and Titanium. The new Ford Edge is a fusion of classic looks, up to date technologies and extensive safety features.

Ford Edge 1 Right Front2015 Ford Edge launches in US early 2015 which will be followed by launches in South America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Coming in based on the company’s One Ford Strategy, pioneered by their CEO Alan Mulally, Edge is not going to be launched in India.

Ford Edge will be powered by a 2.0 liter EcoBoost four cylinder engine offering an estimated 245 hp power and 270 lb/ft torque. A 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 with 300 hp is also expected while a 3.5 liter V6 engine could also make its way aboard the new Edge with all engines mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission.

Ford Edge 5 Rear Three QuarterSafety features and technologies aboard the new Edge will include adaptive steering system, active parking assist, adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake system and a 180 degree front camera. There is also a glove box mounted air bag system and inflatable rear safety belts.

To be offered in both front and all wheel drive variants, the 2015 Ford Edge is designed out of high tensile steel body giving it upto 26% increase in stiffness while adaptive electric steering makes the vehicle more manoeuvrable and dynamic.
