New Ford Endeavour India launch late 2015, based on Everest Concept
The new Ford Endeavor is slated for launch in India sometime in 2015. To compete with Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford will be assembling the new Endeavor in India with parts procured locally so as to keep price competitive.
Based on Everest concept displayed at Beijing Motor Show early 2014, the new Endeavour is aimed at rivalling segment leader Toyota Foruner, which registers about 1200 units monthly sales. For India, engine specifications could include 2.2 liter and 3.0 liter four cylinder diesel engines with two or four wheel drive options mated to either manual or automatic gearboxes.
Though 2015 Ford Endeavor is based on the Everest Concept, it will be seen with distinct elements of its own. These will include a bold trapezoidal front grille, big wheel arches, chrome wing windows and vents just behind the front wheel arch. Revised fog lamps and bumper are also evident, as are new body graphics and 16” alloy wheels.
Ford has already begun testing new Endevour. As per latest spy shots, the model appears to be wider as compared to the current Ford Endeavor. Bluetooth, reversing camera, touchscreen infotainment system and two zone AC will be seen on manual and RWD AT versions while top of the line 4X4 AT variant gets full leather interiors. It will continue with the same seven seating layout, as seen on the existing variant.
In India, Ford will sell the 2015 Endeavor via the CKD route with kits coming in from Thailand. Final assembly will be done at the Ford India Chennai facility.
