Ford Mustang RHD Sri Lanka launch in 2015, India as well?
Ford Mustang celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and is confirmed for launch in Sri Lankan market next year. The 6th generation Mustang is available in RHD version for the first time, which is hoped to be launched in India along with the neighbouring country.
The RHD Mustang is not unveiled yet, but UK and Australian markets will receive the legendary sportscar in 2015, as announced by the American manufacturer.
The latest generation of Ford’s iconic car was debuted on 5th December 2013 simultaneously in New York, California, Michigan, Spain, China and Australia. The new Mustang carries immense design changes form the original 1964 Mustang; in terms of exterior and interior styling.
Three engine options in MY 2015 Mustang are 2.3 litre 4-cyl, 3.7 litre V6 and 5.0 litre V8. Entry model Mustang features 3.7 litre motor that churns out 300 horsepower and 365 Nm peak torque. Mid variant comes with 2.3 litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine that pushes out 305 hp and 406 Nm. Top spec Mustang hides the 5.0 litre power plant that generates 420 hp and 528 Nm.
Ford Motor Company inaugurated a new 6,000 square foot facility in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, for sales and service. The 12-vehicle showroom will showcase the newly launched Kuga, new EcoSport Crossover-SUV, Figo hatchback, Fiesta sedan, all-new Focus passenger car, Everest 7-seater SUV, new Ranger pickup truck and Transit van.
The US carmaker also plans to open up four service points outside of Colombo, to establish effective service network. The launch of Sri Lanka 3S facility depicts Ford Motor Company’s expanding presence in Asia Pacific region. Will India be next in line to see the Mustang come roaring out of Ford showrooms?
