Hero Passion PRO BS6 launch price Rs 65k – New colours, styling updates

Hero MotoCorp has launched the much awaited Passion PRO BS6 at a launch event today. The event was held at their tech center in Jaipur.

Hero MotoCorp has updated the 2020 Passion Pro with a BS6 compliant 113 cc engine while it also receives several styling updates. Offered in two variants of Drum and Disc brake, prices are at Rs.64,990 and Rs.67,190 respectively (ex-sh prices). This commuter motorcycle looks even more stylish and sportier than before.

It gets cosmetic updates with a redesigned headlamp and bikini fairings along with a larger fuel tank, sleeker tail section and new tail lamp. It also gets revised body decals and is now offered in new colours of Sports Red, Techno Blue, Moon Yellow and Glaze Black. It also gains updated instrumentation with a semi digital cluster showing off real time mileage and other necessary information.

Updated to comply with BS6 emission standards, the new Hero Passion Pro gets a 110cc, fuel injected engine that offers 8.9 bhp power at 7,500 rpm and 9.79 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm. These power and torque figures are marginally lower than that seen on the engine that powered the outgoing model but this BS6 engine claims an added 5 percent fuel efficiency. Hero Passion Pro in BS4 format was powered by a 110cc, 4 stroke, air cooled, single cylinder engine that offered 9.3 hp power and 9 Nm torque, and just as the Splendor iSmart BS4, the engine is paired with a 4 speed transmission.

The new Passion Pro also gets Auto Sail feature for easier manoeuvring in traffic conditions while suspension has been tweaked and ground clearance has been increased by 15mm. Hero Passion Pro BS6 also gains from the company’s i3S idle start stop fuel saving technology. Hero Passion Pro BS6 will continue to rival the likes of TVS Victor, TVS Star City Plus, Honda Livo and Dream Yuga, among other bikes.

In terms of sales, Hero MotoCorp was at the top of the sales charts in January 2020 with domestic sales of 4,88,069 units. However, this was a 14.37 percent de-growth as compared to sales in January 2019 when sales stood at 5,69,962 units. The company also exported13,553 units last month, slightly up from 12,794 units which were exported in the same month last year.

The bike maker has also announced that their entire scooter portfolio has been upgraded to comply with BS6 emission norms and has stopped production of BS4 scooter models. Hero MotoCorp has also stated that production in February will see a 10 percent decline due to constraint in supply or components from China in view of the Corona virus (Covid-19).
