The 2020 Honda Dio BS6 is priced at Rs 59,990 ex-showroom and is more affordable than the Active 6G
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) launched the all-new BS6-compliant Dio CVT scooter last month at a starting price of Rs 59,990 for the STD variant. The higher DLX variant comes at Rs 63,340. Compared to the BS4 model, prices have gone by around Rs 5,500-7,100. The 2020 Honda Dio BS6 is also cheaper than the new Activa 6G which has a starting price of Rs 63,912. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom.
The Honda Dio was introduced in the country back in 2001 and is currently in its third avatar. It is essentially a sportier (only by looks) alternative to the Honda Activa aimed at young buyers. Now, the Japanese two-wheeler brand has released a new TVC of the 2020 Honda Dio.
The TVC highlights some of the design and convenience features of the new Honda Dio. This includes the split grab rail, full-LED headlamp and DRL, telescopic suspension, engine start/stop switch, digital instrument cluster, storage compart at the front, external fuel-filling, side-stand engine cut-off and, of course, the revamped styling.
The LED headlamp is a DC unit. Compared to the BS4 model, the 2020 Dio has grown by 22mm in wheelbase and promises better stability. The scooter gets CBS (Combi Braking System) with Equalizer while the rear suspension is adjustable by three steps.
As mentioned before, the 2020 Honda Dio is available in two formats: STD and DLX. The STD or Standard variant comes in four colours: Mat Axis Grey Metallic, Candy Jazzy Blue, Sports Red and Vibrant Orange. On the other hand, the DLX or Deluxe variant gets only three colour choices: Mat Sangria Red Metallic, Dazzle Yellow Metallic and Mat Axis Grey Metallic.
The Honda Dio BS6 boasts of over 20 patent applications. The 110cc air-cooled engine features Honda’s PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) system alongside HET (Honda Eco Technology) and ESP (Enhanced Smart Power). Put together, the power plant makes around 7.6bhp and 9Nm of torque. The output has dropped slightly compared to its BS4 counterpart but in the scooter market, nobody really cares about a product’s performance unless it is substantially low.
To ensure a jolt-free starting, the scooter employs an ACG Starter system which essentially uses an AC generator to harness current and charge the battery while riding. There is a noticeable difference in its operation in comparison to a conventional starter motor system. The 2020 Honda Dio is offered with a 6-year warranty pack (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended).
