New 2.0l diesel engine for 2015 VW Passat

To be officially unveiled in July, the new 2015 Volkswagen Passat will make its public debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in September. Sales are expected to commence thereafter, and deliveries to begin by early 2015. But prior to all this, the first official details as far as engine options on offer the new Passat is concerned, are now revealed.

New 2.0l diesel engine for 2015 VW Passat2015 Volkswagen Passat will be available in a range of new petrol and diesel engine options. The highlight is their new 2.0l bi-turbo diesel engine which will deliver 240 PS power and 500 Nm torque at 1,750 rpm. This new VW engine will be on offer with their new 7 speed DSG transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. Apart from new petrol and petrol and diesel engines, Passat will also feature a hybrid variant which will have a range of 31 miles (50 kms) on electricity and 600 miles (965 kms) overall.

2015 VW Passat will be the 8th generation of the iconic car. It will also feature changes to the material used. Overall, the new Passat is stronger and lighter than the outgoing variant, thanks to use of aluminium and high-strength steel. To be precise, new Passat is 20% more efficient and 85 kg lighter than its previous counterpart.

2015 Volkswagen Passat sketch sideSpeaking about dimensions, VW says that 2015 Passat is slightly smaller in size as compared to older Passat. But, even then it offers more space, more legroom and more head-room. Even the luggage space has been increased in the new Passat.

Features on-board the new Passat will include Active info display with 12.3 inch TFT display, heads-up display, latest modular infotainment system, Car-Net remote app, 360 degree area view, park assist with the option to auto-park the car, and world-first trailer assist.
