2020 Yamaha R3 unveiled – Gets all black colour scheme

Much awaited in India by enthusiasts, the new 2020 Yamaha R3 has made its global debut. It now comes in two new colour scheme, one is all black and the other is racing blue. In Yamaha speak, these new colours are called – Midnight Black and Icon Blue.

Launch of 2020 Yamaha R3 in India has been officially confirmed and it is scheduled to take place by the end of this year. Updated Yamaha R3 comes with improved styling, upgraded suspension and several new features. The bike takes inspiration from MotoGP YZR-M1, which has helped achieve a sleeker, more aerodynamic design.

All-new Yamaha R3 comes with dual LED headlamps, which enhances the bike’s sporty profile. The dual headlamp setup is also functionally relevant, as it ensures improved illumination. In between the headlamps, there’s a central air intake slot that directs air for engine cooling. The air duct works in combination with the overlapping fairing panels to efficiently cool the engine.

Fuel tank design is largely the same as earlier, an integral feature that gives R-series bikes their distinctive character. Side panels have been upgraded and they are now more refined, as compared to that of earlier model. The upper section of the fairing sports the ‘R’ badging, whereas the lower section has Yamaha branding.

Another key upgrade is the new white backlit digital instrumentation that displays a wide range of information such as gear position, clock, fuel capacity, water temperature, trip meter, and real time and average fuel economy. Suspension system has also been upgraded, featuring new inverted forks at the front and a Monocross unit at the rear. The new suspension has been designed to provide superior comfort and balance in a wide variety of road conditions.

New Yamaha R3 offers redefined ergonomics, which has been achieved by lowering the position of the fuel tank and handlebars. A compact, lightweight chassis has been used, which improves handling and power to weight ratio. New R3 can take on city traffic and open highways with equal ease.

2020 Yamaha R3 is powered by a 321 cc, liquid cooled, inline 2-cylinder engine that makes 42 hp of max power and 29.6 Nm of max torque. Engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Fuel is supplied via an advanced fuel injection system that boosts performance and improves fuel economy. In terms of safety, Yamaha R3 offers dual-channel ABS.

All-new Yamaha R3 could be priced around Rs 3.80 lakh. It will compete with the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC390, and Benelli 302R.
