2016 Audi Q7 SUV spied in India before next month’s debut in Detroit

Joe King, Head of Audi India, recently (during A3 Cabriolet launch) revealed plans of launching 10 new models in the country next year. Given that next generation version of the company’s flagship SUV is testing on Indian soil much before world debut, the new Audi Q7 could launch here soon after the public unveil. 2016 Audi Q7 is slated to go on sale in European and American markets by mid-2015.

Apparently, second generation Audi Q7 SUV could launch in India much earlier than anticipated. Deliveries in Germany is expected to commence in summer.

Adopting the brand’s latest design philosophy, second generation Audi Q7 looks sharper with redesigned snout and overall brush-ups. All vital elements like front grille, headlamps and bumpers, are redesigned to show much difference from the outgoing model.

Even interior of new Q7 is totally refurbished. Dashboard is made a bit edgier, and modelled like Volkswagen Passat’s. Steering wheel is turned into a really sporty piece of hoop and all controls and buttons are updated.

Currently, Audi Q7 in India is locally manufactured at their plant in Aurangabad. Offered in two engine options 3.0l V6 and 4.2l V8 diesel with quattro technology, price ranges from Rs 60 – 90 lakhs. Expect the new Q7 to be a bit more expensive than the existing Q7, as it is loaded with many new features. Once launched, the new Q7 will compete with Mercedes GL Class, and BMW X5.

As per Zauba, a total of 7 units of new Audi Q7 have been imported into India this week, all powered by 3.0l diesel engine. All of these are expected to undergo stringent road tests and R&D before the car enters production in India.
