2016 Audi R8 e-tron and V10 make global debut – Geneva

Two versions of the Audi R8 V10 are being offered, one with 540 hp and the other with 610 hp. Built of a lightweight construction and based on a dynamic chassis with a Quattro drive system, the Audi R8 V10 is powered by a 5.2 liter FSI engine.

 

In the R8 V10, this engine delviers 540 hp and torque of 540 Nm. The R8 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 323 kmph. Audi R8 V10 Plus is the second variant. It is the more powerful of the two and develops 610 hp and 560 Nm peak torque at 6,500 rpm. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds while top speed stands at 330 kmph.

Weighing a total of 1,454 kgs, the new Audi R8 is around 50 kgs less than its earlier counterpart. It sees extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber in its makeup while a Multimaterial Audi Space Frame contributes to optimum axle load distribution.

Sporting new hexagonal grill, vertical intakes and two piece sideblades, the Audi R8 receives angular tail lamps, new LED headlamp design and an integrated spoiler at the rear. Interiors are fully digital with button clusters on steering wheel controls, multi media interface navigation and touch sensitive control dials. Sales are slated to commence in summer 2015 with pricing at around €165,000 for R8 V10 and €187,400 for its R8 V10 plus variant.

 

Besides these two variants, a plug-in hybrid variant of R8 is also be on offer. 2016 Audi R8 e-tron drive train generates 340 kW (456 hp) and 920 Nm torque to all four wheels. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds and has a drive range of 450 kms. Price of this variant is not revealed. Production will commence next year, with limited numbers on offer. It will not be on offer in all markets.
