2016 Auto Expo – Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with Performance Data Recorder

Launched in the US at a price of US$55,400, new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with Performance Data Recorder is now on display at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. It is powered by a 6.2 liter V8 engine which is rated at 455 hp and 623 Nm torque via a 7 speed manual transmission or a 8 speed automatic box.

Apart from this, the new Corvette also comes with Performance Data Recorder. This new feature has been developed by Cosworth and consists of an efficient 720p high definition camera situated on its windshield header, a cabin mounted microphone and GPS receiver, all of which work in tandem to track cars location five times faster than sat-nav.

This is an industry-first PDR system using video, audio and motorsport inspired telemetry recording facilities. It includes three components in the form of a high definition 720p camera which functions from the driver’s point of view through the windshield. A dedicated microphone situated in the cabin deals with audio recording while a self contained telemetry recorder uses GPS receiver which is five times faster than an in-dash navigation system.

The system works to driver’s advantage for enhanced positioning and for tackling corners. Connected to a Stingray Controller Area Network, the driver is able to have all vehicle information at the touch of a button. SD card slot is used for recording and transferring of video and vehicle data with an 8 gigabyte card recording 200 minutes while a 32 GB card stores upto 800 minutes of driving time.
