2016 Chevrolet Camaro is lighter and faster: Officially revealed (Photos and Video)

Measuring 4784mm in length, 1897mm in width and 1348mm in height, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro sits on a wheelbase of 2811mm. To be offered in standard, LT and SS variants, the base engine will be 2.0 liter four cylinder turbo engine offering 275 hp peak power.

Chevrolet confirms that with this engine the Camaro can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in under 6 seconds. Camaro LT variant will be powered by a 3.6 liter V6 engine offering 335 hp power while the top of the range Camaro SS will have a 6.2 liter V8 engine offering 444 hp and 444 lb/ft torque. All three engines will be mated to a 6 speed manual or 8 speed automatic transmission.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro sports a spacious cabin with a host of on board equipment. With its interiors more driver oriented, there will be an 8” HD instrument cluster display with MyLink infotainment system. There will also be another 8” display on the center of the instrument panel. The Camaro receives LED ambient lighting, electronic parking brake and Driver Mode Selector to opt between Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport and Track, though this will only be on offer on the SS variant.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is lighter by over 90 kgs due to extensive use of aluminium. Its structural rigidity has been enhanced by 28 percent while Chevrolet has confirmed that 70 percent of components have been exclusively developed for the Camaro.

To be produced at the company’s Lansing assembly plant in Michigan, 2016 Chevrolet Camaro continues to maintain its leadership in the sporty car segment as has been seen over the past five years. Though no pricing has been announced as on date, it is confirmed that 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be offered in 10 exterior colours and 5 interior colour options.
