2016 Jaguar XJ facelift has been unveiled ahead of its international sales debut sometime in third quarter of this year. Since most variants of XJ is brought to India via CBU route, updated model should be here soon after it reaches overseas showrooms.
Visually, new XJ saloon receives revised headlamps with LED technology, larger and more upright grille, revised outboard air intake pods on front bumper, J-Blade daytime LED running lights, new LED taillight detailing with signature J graphics and a reprofiled bumper with black valance.
New Autobiography variant can be distinguished by means of chrome finished bumper vents, 20-inch Maroa wheels, chrome strip on boot lid and oval chrome exhaust tips.
Interior design hasn’t changed much but new car is bestowed with improved InControl touchscreen infotainment system and new leather upholstery. Autobiography trim adds quilted semi-aniline leather seats, oak inlay veneer, illuminated door sills and a boot finisher.
Rear fascia receives minor updates while profile stays intact save for new 20-inch alloy wheels.R-Sport model can be identified by means of new three-part front splitter, side vents, glossy black finish for the grille and rear spoiler.

Powertrain lineup has been retained but are now improved to meet EU6 standards. The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine has undergone extensive revision to offer 25 PS and 100 Nm more than its predecessor. The motor is now capable of 300 PS and a phenomenal torque of 700 Nm.
Autobiography’s interior offers quilted leather seats, illuminated AC vents and many more.3.0-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol motors have been retained. Former produces 340 PS and 450 Nm of torque while the latter is available in two ratings – 510PS/625Nm and 550PS/680Nm. India would also get the entry level variant powered by 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol motor.
