General Motors has unveiled the India-spec 2017 Chevrolet Beat (known as Spark in many markets abroad). The new Beat hatchback in India will not be based on the M2 platform, which forms the basis of international-spec new generation Beat.
Instead, India-spec new gen Beat will be based on a modified M300 platform, on which the current Beat is based. This will ensure GM to price the new Beat competitively in India when launched. GM India has promised to launch the car within 2 years time.
Just like existing Beat, new Beat will also be exported to multiple markets from India.2017 Chevrolet Beat will receive a host of external and internal updates. It will be seen with features that among other will also include a new Chevrolet signature three spoke steering wheel, digital analogue instrument cluster and a redesigned dashboard.
2017 Chevrolet Beat will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. It will get a 1.0 liter three cylinder petrol engine from the ECOTEC family while it will also receive a 1.0 liter diesel engine. Both these engines will be tuned to offer better performance and enhanced mileage while being mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Interiors could be inspired by the Chevrolet Beat Activ ConceptWhile General Motors is working on a host of small cars in the sub-INR 5 lakh bracket, the 2017 Chevrolet Beat will be manufactured at their plant in Talegaon, near Pune.. The new Beat will gain from extensive localization allowing the company to price it more aggressively.
