2020 Maruti Brezza petrol BS6 facelift spied undisguised

The brisk selling compact crossover, as the previous spyshots indicated, features minor visual nips and tucks. The design changes shown in the latest spy pictures are consistent with ones observed on the camouflaged ones.

The most striking change comes in the form of new headlamp detailing. This particular vehicle appears to be equipped with LED headlamps, replete with new DRLs. The Brezza facelift retains its chrome grille element while the bumper has been reprofiled to include larger and simpler fog light enclosures in addition to a new silver chin insert.

There are absolutely no sheet metal changes and hence the profile is unchanged. We don’t expect much changes on the rear fascia either. The Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift is likely to incorporate some minor changes on the inside such as new accents, additional features, fresh upholstery, and possibly, a revised instrument cluster.

Maruti may update the vehicle’s touchscreen infotainment system with added functionality to counteract the Hyundai Venue, the new segment benchmark in terms of connectivity.

Changes under the hood will be significant considering that the existing 1.3-liter diesel motor will not be upgraded to BS6 standard. The 2020 Brezza is set to receive a petrol engine option. The 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit which powers the Ciaz and Ertiga family is the viable candidate. This motor is already BS6-compliant and is good for 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque. The motor can be had either with a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed AT.

It remains to be seen if the Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift will continue to have a diesel variant or not. If it does, the company’s homegrown 1.5-liter diesel unit that powers the Ciaz and Ertiga will take over from the aging FCA-sourced 1.3-liter MultiJet mill.

The uncamouflaged spy pictures suggest that the 2020 Maruti Brezza petrol BS6 facelift has already started reaching dealerships. We won’t be surprised if the automaker chooses to launch the crossover before the Auto Expo in February. The car will continue to fight it out with Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300.
