Thomas Chacko, 63, racing and auto enthusiast will be travelling from north to south of the Indian subcontinent in a Tata Nano. This is his dream and hence he took the liberty of writing to Ratan Tata expressing his desire to undertake this expedition. His letter has convinced the Chairman of Tata Motors to hand over the Nano for this purpose which he will drive to all the state capitals, union territories and include the highest motorable road in the world – Khardung La and to Nepal and Bhutan as well.

He will travel a distance of approximately 25000 kms and would begin from Mumbai on May 3rd and is expected to be pack by end of July 2012. As resident of Kochi, Chacko will be in Kochi on June 16the. Chacko has always enjoyed long distance driving and has been regularly undertaking such journeys alone.

He has travelled to most parts of the country and to 26 other countries in Asia, Europe and North America. He has picked the Tata Nano due to its ability to tackle rough terrain, ground clearance and pick up. During the journey he will have a co-passenger and will be carrying two spare tyres besides additional fuel in a jerry can.
