McLaren Automotive and AkzoNobel have signed an agreement for the supply of paint technology to McLaren. This comes as an icing on the cake and will help cement ties between the two companies. The history between these two companies/brands goes back a long time as through its Sikkens automotive brand, AkzoNobel has been supplying paint technology to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes since the year 2008.
Through this new agreement, the company will be able to use paint technology for road cars too. The technology will also be used for cars like the MP4-12C, MP4-12C Spider and P1 and others when they enter into production in the near future.
Models that are designed by McLaren have to pass stringent testing procedures wherein paint coatings are concerned. Through usage of the paint supplied by AzkoNobel, McLaren has been able to produce cars which have passed these tests and performed well in international circuits.
