Ford Motor Company will be showcasing the new Fusion at Detroit Auto Show in January. One interesting feature of this new car will be a tracking system that can detect and warn against drowsiness or distracted drivers who do not keep to their lanes. Such technology was also visible in some of their previous models and Mr. Octavio Navarro, a spokesperson from Ford said that this will be the first time that such technology will be offered on a non luxury automobile.
Ford Fusion with lane keeping system monitors will ensure that drivers keep to their lane through well positioned windshield mounted digital camera that will detect straying off lanes and will send out a warning in the form of vibrations on the steering wheel to will signal to drivers either to be alert or get back into their lane.
The lane keeping aid will also be able to automatically steer the car back into the centre of the lane if drivers fail to respond. Repeated failure to keep to lanes will ensure a siren warning which will be followed by a second siren and coffee cup display on the instrument panel.
