The second ‚ÄúScience Award Electrochemistry‚ÄĚ from Volkswagen and BASF has commenced and applications are invited till the 15th June 2013. Researchers are required to apply on line at www.science-award.com, while the site offers terms and conditions for participation and also offers guidance through the entire process and selection procedure.
The jury will consist of eminent personalities from BASF, Volkswagen and from the world of science while the award ceremony is scheduled in Ludwigshafen on October 23, 2013. This prestigious science award is presented annually and is extended to scientists from across the world. It recognizes scientific and engineering achievements drawing special attention to high performance energy stores. It also entails a much coveted prize of ‚ā¨50,000.
Last year, the jury selected Dr. Naoaki Yabuuchi from the Tokyo University of Science, Institute for Science and Technology, Japan for outstanding research on battery technology. Yabuuchi displayed the effect of new battery material and the ways in which it would improve efficiency of lithium ion and sodium ion batteries. This new technology is currently under research.
