ASEAN rally which is a way of cementing ties between Manipur and ASEAN countries comprises of participants from Burnei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and India. The ASEAN-India Car Rally 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the ASEAN Indian dialogue partnership and 10th Anniversary of ASEAN India summit level partnership.
The teams were flagged off from Yogjakarta, Indonesia on November 26, 2012 and have traversed through 8 ASEAN countries along the route. The Government of India is hosting the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit at New Delhi on 20th and 21st December 2012 under the theme ‘ASEAN-India Partnership for Peace and Shared Prosperity’.
