The new Audi A3 sedan is said to be a compact one, but it is not entirely true, as the car has a wheelbase measuring 103.4 inches (Honda Civic is at 105.1 inches). Audi A3 is 176 inches in length and weighs 1,250 kgs.
Engines of the A3 Sedan will include a 1.4 liter (140 hp) and 1.8 liter (180 hp) TFSI gasoline turbocharged direct injected four cylinder engines while a 2.0 liter (150 hp) TDI turbodiesel variant will also make its way into the A3. On the S3, you will find a 2.0L TFSI that delivers 300 hp.
Audi has also confirmed an A3 Sportback e-tron Plug-in Hybrid, which was showcased at 2013 Geneva Motor Show. This variant will also be offered in US markets along with the other variants early next year. Possessing peak power of 204 hp and torque of 258 lb/ft, the A3 e-tron will have a drive range of 30 miles on pure electric charge while it will deliver close to 100 mpg combined mileage.
True to tradition, the A3 will have four settings including Auto, Dynamic, Comfort and Individual, and will come in with a host of safety and infotainment features. India is also going to get the A3, but, nothing has been stated on its launch in India as of now. You can find an extensive hi-res gallery of the new Audi A3 and S3 with 88 photos, here.
