Audi current diesel lineup consists of A3 compact and the Q7 SUV as on date in the US, however the German automakers have confirmed on Monday that they will soon be offering their 3.0 liter diesel TDI V6 engine on A8, A7, A6 and Q5 models which will boost fuel economy by about 30% compared to their petrol counterpart.
Audi TDI diesel engines are highly fuel efficient saving customers over 4 million gallons of fuel since this engine was introduced in the US in 2009. Fuel efficiency is achieved while performance is maintained with the use of these diesel TDI engines which offers output of 240hp and 406 lb/ft torque. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. Fuel efficiency stands at 24 mpg in city limits and 36 mpg on the highway.
