A new assembly line will be set up by Audi India at their Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra. With this new assembly line in place, Audi India aims to roll out 8,000 cars by the end of this year. Audi's new assemble line will help the German car maker to roll out new Q7 SUV and the all new Q3 compact crossover from their Aurangabad unit. Audi plans on taking on their fight with compatriot car makers, Mercedes Benz and BMW, in India to the next level.
Mr. Michael Perschke, Head of Audi in India said that the company was depending on Q3 to steer the company forward during the current year. Perschke said that Audi has planned on bringing in one new model every year in India which will enable the company to expand its market share. Audi sold 80% more cars in India during 2011 and is banking on Q3 and Q7 to take this growth rate even higher.
While speaking of pricing Perschke said that Q3 SUV would be in the Rs 2,500,000 to Rs 3,000,000 price bracket and will take on both BMW X1 and MINI variants, besides Mercedes Benz B Class once it is launched. Audi is also planning on targeting smaller cities in India like Nagpur, Bhopal, Goa and Lucknow this year.
