It was revealed last week, that Audi India has finished the financial year 2014/15 as No 1 luxury car maker, beating Mercedes Benz India by a mere 79 cars, with a total of 11,292 units sold. This means, When you discount last year’s sales, Mercedes Benz India leads Audi India by 385 cars for Q1 2015 sales.
Mercedes Benz has continuously managed to outgrow rival Audi in the past few months. For 2015, Mercedes has promised to launch 15 cars, thus hoping to be No 1 car luxury car maker by end of 2015. On the other hand, Audi India too has promised at least five new exciting cars in the next five months.
The first of these five cars will be the new Audi TT, which will be launched on 23rd April. The new Audi TT will be offered in India with a single engine variant – 45 TFSI Quattro. It will be powered by a 2.0L petrol engine, which will deliver 230 hp and 370 Nm torque, which is 19 hp and 20 Nm more than the outgoing TT’s 2.0l petrol engine. This engine is mated to S Tronic automatic transmission, which delivers 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds, and top speed of 245 kmph.
Apart from upgradede, engine, new TT also gets revised exteriors and interiors. Highlights include LED headlights and taillights, LED instrument cluster, sporty steering wheel with flattened bottom, steering mounted controls, and paddle shifters. Price of new Audi TT is expected to be in the range of Rs 55-60 lakhs.
Though Audi has not confirmed what the other 4 cars of theirs are, we expect three of them to be new Q7, A6, Q3; all of which have been already begun testing in India.
