August 2015 Commercial Vehicle Sales: Ashok Leyland, VECV, Mahindra Tractors

VE Commercial Vehicles, Ashok Leyland and Mahindra Tractors announce sales reports for the month of August 2015.


Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicle sales during August 2015 saw a steep increase by 20% to a total of 3,711 units as compared to 3,087 units sold in August 2015. The month of August 2015 was also favorable for company’s Eicher branded trucks and buses with total sales of 3,611 units during the month, an increase of 19.29% as compared to sales of 3,027 during August 2014.

Where domestic sales were concerned Eicher sold 3,009 units in August 2015 as compared to 2,571 units in August 2014, an increase of 17.03% while Volvo truck sales were up 66.66%, and stood at 100 units in August 2015 as against 60 units in August 2014.

Year to date sales of VE Commercial vehicles Ltd have also recorded a growth of 9.3% from 27,965 units sold in the previous year to 30,557 sold in the current YTD period while where exports are concerned, Eicher Trucks and Buses recorded a growth of 32% with 602 units exported during the past month as compared to 456 units exported in August 2014.

Mahindra Tractor domestic sales in August 2015 dipped substantially. Sales during the month stood at 10,751 units as compared to sales of 13,733 units sold in August 2014. Total tractor sales which included domestic sales and exports totalled 11,699 units while exports were at 948 units during the month registering a decline of 26% over exports in the same month of the previous year. Projected sales for the months ahead also seen dim due to deficient rainfall which could adversely affect sales.

Ashok Leyland

Sales of Ashok Leyland over the month of August 2015 increased 39%. The company sold 11,544 units during the month as compared to 8,333 units sold in August 2014. Sales of M&HCVs increased by 53% to 8,903 units while sales of LCVs stood at 2,641 units in the past month. Taking into account total sales from April to August 2015, Ashok Leyland sales were up 40% to 50,752 units sold during the period as against sales of 36,134 units sold in the same period in the previous year.
