After making its global debut at the 2019 EICMA show in November last year, the all new 390 Adventure made its way to India. Here, it made its debut at the 2019 India Bike Week in Goa, where it created quite a buzz. Expected to be launched soon, the new KTM adventure motorcycle was recently spied on test near Pune by automotive enthusiasts Prem Kumar and Narinder Tandon.
Ideally suited for touring and light off roading, the 390 ADV sports split LED headlamps, LED turn indicators and it also receives a Bluetooth enabled full color TFT display.
The 390 ADV rides on 19” front and 17” rear alloy wheels fitted with dual purpose tyres and also receive aluminum handlebars, split seats and fuel tank spoilers. The handle bars are raised while seat is extended over the fuel tank. Ground clearance is at 200mm while seat height is at 855mm.
KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a the same engine that also powers the 390 Duke and RC390. This engine offers 44 PS power and 37 Nm torque and comes in with dual channel ABS as a standard feature.
The ABS also receives an off road mode thereby allowing the rider to switch off ABS completely for better off roading. Suspension and braking is via adjustable 43mm inverted forks in the front and preloaded adjustable monoshock at the rear with travel of 170mm and 177mm respectively.
Braking is via 320mm single disc in the front and 230 mm disk at the rear. The KTM 390 ADV will be the first motorcycle in its segment to get lean sensitive traction control and cornering ABS with dedicated off road mode thus making it the most technologically advanced adventure motorcycle in its segment and especially easy to handle by novice riders.
With the KTM 390 Duke priced at Rs.2.48 lakhs, the KTM 390 ADV could command a higher price ranging between Rs.3-3.2 lakhs. In addition to the bike getting new features like traction control and cornering ABS, it also gets BS6 engine. All this will result in a higher price tag. To be launched soon, it will enter a segment currently commanded by the likes of the BMW G310GS and Kawasaki Versys-X 300, among others.
Apart from the 390 Adventure, KTM has also unveiled the 250 Adventure motorcycle. Though the 250 Adventure is yet to be showcased in India, it has been spied on test. It features a similar styling as the 390 Adventure, minus features like LED headlamps, cornering ABS, traction control, full digital instrument console, etc. This will result in the KTM 250 Adv pricing to be much aggressive – aiming for a larger segment of buyers.
