Two wheeler exports grew by 65% at 27,696 units over 16,750 units in October 2013. Total two wheeler sales stood at 231,990 units in October 2014 over 189,979 units sold in October 2013, equating to 22% increase. Domestic two wheeler sales growth of 18% accounted to 204,294 units sold in October 2014 over 173,229 units in October 2013.

TVS Scooter sales stood at 70,571 units in October 2014 over 42,124 units in October 2013, equating to 68% sales increase. Motorcycles sales grew by 10% increasing from 82,352 units to 90,779 units. Three wheeler sales stood at 9,054 units in October 2014 over 7,926 units in Oct ’13, equating to 14% sales growth.

Mahindra Two Wheelers sold 22,404 units during October 2014 down from 29,696 units sold in Oct ’13. Viren Popli, Chief of Operations, Mahindra Two Wheelers said response to new scooter Gusto has been good and production capacity is being ramped to to meet demand. Centuro range too is in demand, and Mahindra expects to increase market share over the next few months.

Royal Enfield continues to build on its strong momentum in 2014 with 26039 units sold in combined domestic wholesale and exports in October 2014 over 17659 units sold in Oct ’13, equating to 47% sales growth. Domestic sales stood at 25510
units over 17306 units, equating to 47% sales growth. Exports for the month stood at 529 units over 353 units in Oct 2013, equating to 50% growth.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) reached the 500,000 sales mark in October with 5.4 lakh units retailed in India. On Dhanteras Honda sales surpassed 1 lakh unit sales in a single day at 110% sales growth for 1.65 lakh units, over 78,500 units sold last year on the same day. Honda Dream Series motorcycles contributed 30% to sales on Dhanteras, and Activa contributed 45%.

Honda two-wheeler sales stood at 377,112 units in October 2014 at 25% domestic market share with 103% growth in festive sales over 2013. Domestic 27% growth is reported through FY 2014-15 April-October.

Honda’s growth story in October extended beyond sales as well. Company announced the opening of its 800th Honda Exclusive Authorized Dealer under its aggressive network expansion plans. With this, Honda network now reached 3170 touch points across India.

Honda’s front runner brand value received a further validation when it emerged as the ‘Most Trusted Brand in the Two-wheeler category in The Economic Times Brand Equity’s Annual Survey in 2014.

Yamaha Motor India has reported 5% domestic sales growth in October 2014 backed by its Alpha variants and FZ series, and new SZ series – SZ-RR Version 2.0 with Blue Core Technology launch. Yamaha India sold 54,362 units in October 2014 over 51,808 units sold in October 2013.

Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd says company Alpha scooter offerings, especially and new FZ series bikes have been growth catalyst. SZ-RR Version 2.0 strengthens Yamaha’s 150cc segment presence. Yamaha hopes positive sales trend will continue in the coming months as well.

Hero Motorcycles and scooters reports October sales ta 8% decline for 575,056 units sold, down from 625,420 units sold in October 2013. Last month Bajaj sold 336,923, down from 348,323 units sold in Oct 2013, equating to 3% sales decline. Bajaj sold 49,094 CV units over 37,000 units in 2013 October, equating to 33% growth. Total sales stood at 386,017 units, fractionally up from 385,323 units sold in 2013 Oct. Of them exports gained traction at 158,547 over 138,022 units on Oct 13, equating to 15% growth.
