Bajaj RE60 quadricycle can see competition from Polaris, Mahindra, Piaggio, Tata Motors, and Kinetic
Following the Indian Government’s approval for quadricycles for commercial transportation in the country, Bajaj Auto is the first manufacturer to showcase their quadricycle named Bajaj RE60. Manufactured from the company plant in Ahmedabad, the vehicle will be used for intra city transport only.
RE60 was in the making for the past 5 years. The company has invested vast sums of money in the development of a quadricycle but it may not be the only one on the road as the company expects other heavyweights such as Polaris, Mahindra, Piaggio and Tata Motors to follow suit and introduce quadricycles in India.
RE60 was displayed at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012. The company expects to roll out 5000 units per month of this four seater 4 door quadricycle 216 cc petrol engine powered commuter vehicle. It will deliver mileage of 35 kmpl with lowest level of auto emissions competing favorably on both counts to the emission spewing and fuel guzzling auto rickshaws.
