Detroit Auto Show drawing much attention from international press it was announced by Chrysler that current Dodge Challenger will take on a new look and will be replaced with a new model by 2014 called Barracuda.

Barracuda will be ready for launch as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Chrysler. The 2014 Barracuda will be shorter, lighter and smaller than the current car and will not be built on Charger 300 LY platform but will have a shorter rear wheel drive platform seen on Hyundai Genesis coupe. Dodge Challenger was launched in 2008 which would mean that the five year period will come to a close in 2013 and hence Barracuda has been slated for launch in the year 2014.

Ford will also see launch of a new Mustang during 2014. Mustang made its debut in April 1964. Speaking of the new Barracuda which will be eagerly awaited by a host of fans, Chrysler has confirmed that some cues will be adopted from Valiant while a convertible model is also on the cards.

Ford's bringing out a smaller, lighter Mustang in 2014???? OMG - could it be - The Mustang III? Maybe it will help increase the value of my '77 Mustang II.
