Bentley SUV gets 2000 orders before final design is revealed
Bentley had showcased their first ever SUV at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show as the EXP 9F Concept. Till date, there is no official confirmation on the production of this SUV nor have they revealed the final design and prices, but Bentley has now revealed that they have received 2000 advance bookings for their first SUV.
The VW Bratislava plant already produces Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. The Bentley SUV is also based on the same platform. So logically speaking, the production should commence in Bratislava.
But what about the famous plaque which Bentley cars carry – Made in Crewe, England. This plaque is very important for Bentley customers, especially the one’s in Asia. The luxury for which a Bentley is known for, is associated greatly to its Crewe plant. What will happen if a Bentley is not built at Crewe? Will the customers be happy?
VW is aware of this problem. Rumor states, that Benley interiors will be built in Crewe and then transported to Bratislava, which is where the SUV will be manufactured. Official details on Bentley SUV production are expected to be revealed in the next few weeks. Once launched, Bentley hopes to sell a total of 3,000 to 4,000 units of this SUV per annum with a target of 15,000 units by the year 2018.
