New BMW 5 Series rolls out in India, Chennai plant
Here’s a glimpse of Robert Frittrang, Managing Director, BMW Plant Chennai with the new BMW 5 Series as it rolls out of BMW Plant Chennai. New BMW 5 Series sedan launched earlier in October, and diesel variants bare locally produced here.

With BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, the engines combine CommonRail direct injection and a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry for better performance and fuel economy. BMW 530d M Sport’s TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder diesel engine with a 3.0 litre capacity records 190 kW / 258 hp and max torque of 540 Nm, while going from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds with top speed of 250 km/h.
BMW 525d TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine has 2.0 litre capacity and develops 160 kW / 218 hp and max torque of 450 Nm. The sedan can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 243 km/h.
BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW 520d has a 2.0 litre capacity. Max power is reported as 135 kW / 184 hp and max torque of 380 Nm. 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.9 seconds and top speed is 231 km/h. With 8-speed AT with Cruise Control, all BMW 5 Series sedans feature ECO PRO mode as standard,k while Sport+ is available only in BMW 525d and BMW 530d.
