In celebration of 10 years of partnership with Paris Photo, BMW Art & Culture will be exhibiting works of Alexandra Catiere at the Grand Palais exhibition from November 14 to 18, 2012. The work entitled “Ici, par-delà les brumes” (Here, Beyond the Mist) was selected as winner of 2011 BMW residency. Marion Gronier was winner of the 2012 BMW residency and these works will also be on show at the Chalon-sur-Saone in the exhibition area.
It is since 2003 that BMW along with Paris Photo has actively supported photography and contemporary arts, a medium that echoes the principals and values of BMW Group. Over the years, the Group has supported a range of cultural projects both modern and contemporary, jazz, cultural music and architecture and design and has launched and supported over 100 cultural projects across the globe.
BMW France has partnered with Nicéphore Niépce Museum encouraging and developing young photographers and supporting their works. The program gives a photographer a unique opportunity to work on a personal project for a period of 3 months in Chalon-sur-Saône under the guidance of François Cheval, the museum’s Chief Curator. A grant of €6000 and paid accommodation is available to the artist who at the end is also given an opportunity to publish a book and exhibit works at the Rencontres d’Arles Festival and Paris Photo.
