BMW copyrights 2 Series, X2, M7 and M10

BMW has ensured that the names 2 Series, X2, M7 and M10 have been protected through copyrights. Though registration of a trademark is not any authority for future production models there is a possibility of the brand coming up with similar products ahead. A chance in this direction is the mention of 2 Series being in the line of upcoming models which will be seen in future generation BMW coupes and convertibles.

The German auto manufacturer has reportedly trademarked some names of their vehicles which include 2 Series, X2, M7 and M10 among a number of others. BMW has also staked claim to names like Compactive, Compactive Tourer and Urbanic and all these names are expected to be seen on BMW models of the future as well. BMW is also keen to expand their SUV range and have confirmed that they are building an X4 that will be to X3 what X6 is to X5.
