Mercedes India seems to have learnt a lesson from last year's error. Mercedes was India's No 1 luxury car maker until BMW replaced them last year. But the story is not the same this year. Mercedes India has registered sales of 2921 units in the period of January to July 2010. For the same period BMW has registered sales of 2718 units.
In 2008, BMW sold 2705 units while Mercedes, the top luxury car maker back then sold 3625 units. But last year, in 2009, Mercedes registered a drop in sales compared to previous year's sales figures as they managed to sell only 3247 units. BMW hit the right chords with sales of 3619 units and thereby taking the No 1 spot.
Though experts believe that this difference isn't much to decide which of the two German manufacturers will eventually be the winner by the year end.
