Increasing demand for cars using alternate fuels sources has resulted in major car companies making initiatives of launching various EV and hybrid products. Governments of different countries have shown a lot of interest in such ventures, and companies like BMW are now considering launch of the BMW-i series in India.
BMW-i series has been unveiled in European and US markets, and the Indian auto market might witness launch of ‘i3 megacity’ soon if there is enough demand for such premium electric and hybrid cars in India.
BMW- i3 Megacity is a four-seater, rear-wheel drive, and is manufactured using carbon-fiber and more efficient drive train technologies. Carbon-fiber is very light in weight, and has traits like being corrosion resistant making this an apt material for manufacturing such mode. The ‘i3 megacity’ will make its way to Indian markets in 2013 followed by the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car provided there is enough demand for such products stated a senior BMW official.
