With a number of car manufacturers announcing their plans for the future, BMW too has reported that they are contemplating to launch their i5 model by 2015. BMW i5 will be launched as compact MPV and is expected to complete the i Series along with i3 small car and i8 sports car.
BMW i5 will be launched and placed between the i3 and i8 in price as well. BMW i5 will be an MPV with a high roof and a number of other luxury features which will include adjustable rear passenger seats and a larger area for additional storage facilities. Earlier it was rumored that i5 would be a four door sedan but obviously that plan seems to have been shelved.
German manufacturer, BMW will be offering i5 with an electric engine fitted at the rear axle which will produce 167 bhp power and 184 lb/ft torque. A second gas version with a 3 cylinder engine will produce 89 bhp power taking the total output power to 256 bhp. Price of BMW i5 is expected to be in the range of $66,000.
