BMW can do nothing but lament since Land Rover has taken over the No.2 position in sales. It has been able to land there because of the types of models, competitive pricing, and amazing amalgamation of these two leading to this spot.
The luxury brand that Tata Motors acquired in 2008 sold 35 units as compared to BMW that sold 16 units. In this race, Germany's Audi has raced ahead leaving behind Mercedes that sold 6 units.
According to Market analysts, this spot was possible due to many performance related factors, but the main factor being the cheaper pricing compared to BMW. Land Rover model sell at Rs 35 lakh and up to Rs 1.11 crore while BMW entry price itself is Rs 5.5 lakh more.
Land Rover has bought in all the possible models that it had in India, while BMW had very few entrants to get the customers attracted.
